Westlake is driving forward with the help of Barry’s Skips.
The Liverpool skip-hire firm has donated 100 tonnes of “crusher run” which is used as the building block for paths and driveways. The gift, which was complimented by the loan of an industrial roller, means that mini-buses and cars will be able to access and park at the site without having to drive over grass and mud.
Barry Flanagan of Barry’s Skips, which has been in business for almost 45 years, said: “Westlake are doing a very meaningful job for people who will really benefit from what they provide. I always respect people who do that sort of thing for their communities and so I was only too happy to help.”
Barry was moved to act by building-firm owner Esmore Davies who is currently working on a project to expand Barry’s Skips and is known in the trade as a charity champion and who once drove a JCB from John O’Groats to Land’s End to raise cash for a sensory garden for war veterans.
Westlake co-owner Dave Haycocks said: “Barry’s Skips generosity, not only the crusher run and roller but also the time and goodwill of staff who delivered it, is a huge boost. We now have more than 300m of road, allowing visitors to drive in safety, especially mini-buses from schools and other organisations.
“Once again we are overwhelmed by the way the business community are supporting us and moving us closer to the day when our equine therapy centre will be open and making a difference.”
