Redrow donation helps us break new ground

Westlake is breaking new ground after receiving an amazing donation from home-builders Redrow.

The developer gifted 4,000 tonnes of top soil to our equine-therapy site, which will allow us to build the animal-care part of the project.

More than 200 wagons delivered the soil from Redrow’s Ledsham Garden Village site to replenish paddocks that had been removed by previous owners years ago in anticipation of a motorway extension that was never built.

The animal care centre when completed will allow local people, including those with autism to enjoy interacting with animals such as donkeys, goats and alpacas as they build confidence and learn new skills.

Expressing his gratitude on behalf of everyone involved, co-owner David Haycocks said: “Without this donation we would not have been able to complete the animal-care part of the project. We are so grateful to Redrow for their generosity.

“To see the trucks turning up one after another and knowing what it will mean when our equine therapy centre is finally completed was something we’ll never forget.”

Paul Cromby, area construction manager for Redrow, said: “We were very happy to be able to do our bit to help such a worthy cause. At Redrow we are always looking for ways to support the communities in which we build and we are very much looking forward to the opening of this facility.”
