Westlake has taken another leap forward with the construction of new accessible pathways and improvements to its car park.
The work was made possible thanks to a kind donation of road planings from highways contractor Aggregate Industries.
Around 500 tonnes of the existing road material, which would have otherwise been re-used as a construction material in the highways sector, was given to our project by the North West contracting team who have been working on the resurfacing of the A550 in Cheshire.
Co-founder of Westlake Dave Haycocks said: “We are extremely grateful to Aggregate Industries for this material and for all their help in getting it on site. The improvements we have been able to make to our car park and pathways make it so much easier for our students and guests to get around and visit parts of the site they otherwise would struggle to access, especially those with disabilities.”
Aggregate Industries Operations Manager Nick Parry said: “Road resurfacing is often a thankless task due to the disruption which it causes, so it was an absolute pleasure to be able to assist Dave and his team.
“Whilst carrying out the Resurfacing of the A550, it was a welcome opportunity to be able to donate and recycle the road planings in such a manner knowing that they will be helping such a worthy cause and the local community.”
